Having navigated the first year of the project, the OPERA Consortium meets in Bilbao to assess progress achieved so far and plan the forthcoming activities.
Representatives of the 12 Consortium partners and 5 members of the External Advisory Board (EAB) participated in the first day activities. The EAB members are Kim Nielsen (Ramboll), Fiona Buckley (ENGIE), Stuart Bradley (ETI), Marina Olsson (Swedish Energy Agency) and John Fitzgerald (Black & Veatch).
They visited BiMEP open-sea test facility on a boat trip and had the opportunity to learn first-hand from OCEANTEC about the floating OWC device there deployed since October 2016 and that is connected to the grid. This device is the baseline configuration for data and experience collection in the OPERA project.
The General Assembly meeting with continue with technical meetings and exploitation issues for two more days. Notably, the project will run an Exploitation Strategy Seminar on Thursday facilitated by an EC designated expert (from the Common Exploitation Booster pilot service).
